Cynical fans, of course, knew better, fully expecting the Man of Steel’s eventual return, but the media brouhaha was considerable, driving civilians into comics shops in unprecedented numbers. We have most of the ‘Death of Superman’ saga new in stock, from the first cameo appearance of the villain Doomsday in Superman (2nd series) #73, Doomsday’s first full appearance in Superman: Man of Steel #18, through to the regular and deluxe (still sealed with free gifts) editions of the actual death issue, Superman #75, and concluding with the return of the Kryptonian Crusader in Adventures of Superman #500, deluxe edition, sealed with trading card.
