American Comics Update: Rip Hunter, Time Master #20 with Hitler cover
*DC: The scientist/leader. His best friend (who’s big and strong). His girlfriend. Her kid brother. Sound familiar? Yes, of course, that’s the format of the team in Rip Hunter, Time Master… Rip Hunter, Time Master debuted in DC’s try-out title Showcase in May 1959, four and a half years before a certain time-travelling Time Lord, and two and a half years before that classic four team member line-up featured over at Marvel. This series is a great favourite of mine, but #20 has become something of a cult collectable due to the appearance of a Big Bad Nazi on the cover and in the story. Hitler covers have certainly become infamous in the collector market and are keenly sought (you also get Napoleon in this issue). This pence stamped issue has reasonable gloss with good, firm staples and nice off-white pages. Edge and corner wear is minor to moderate, apart from a small scuff and dent bottom edge centre.
