*DC: While Superman and chums had their ‘Imaginary Stories’, Batman eschewed such silliness… until the editors came up with the idea of Alfred the butler writing what basically amounted to fan-fic about his employers (surely a bit of a security gaffe?), and one early example was ‘The Marriage of Batman and Batwoman!’ in Batman #122. This camp classic kicked off an entire string of ‘Alfred’s Diary’ stories, which proved hugely popular with the readership.
