American Update: Space Squadron – scarce Atlas sci-fi horror
*Miscellaneous 1940-1959: In the 1950s, Atlas, like most publishers, was scrambling around different genres to find the next ‘big thing’, and one such experiment was 1951’s Space Squadron, tales of derring-do as plucky adventurers went where no man had gone before. These pulpy adventures were high on action and tinged with horror, as the publisher tried to cover all bases, but Space Squadron and its companion, Speed Carter Spaceman, didn’t catch on with the public despite some quality work, and had only short runs. Nowadays, they’re highly sought collectibles, and we’re delighted to have Space Squadron #4 in stock in VG+, with only a detached staple precluding a grade of FN+ or better. On sale at £95.
