American Update: Sufferin’ Sappho! Silver and Bronze Age Wonder Woman, Inc. 1st Wonder Tot
*DC: Since her spectacular big-screen smash hit, Wonder Woman’s star has been in the ascendant, and we’re delighted to have an update reflecting three distinct phases of her heroic journey. Beginning with #116, an early-1960s batch where her more whimsical side was in play, with Mr. Genie, Multiple Man, the Human Fireworks et al; from the early 1970s, commencing with #185, her ‘Modesty Blaise’ years, wherein a powerless Diana Prince alternated between spy thrillers, urban crime, and sword & sorcery and from the mid 1970s, (#212 up) a selection replete with superheroic guest-stars as WW underwent a trial of ‘Twelve Labours’ so that she could rejoin the Justice League of America. Pictured is #122 (GD p £22), which – although she’s not on the cover – features the dynamic debut of Wonder Tot! (Hey, the way movie moguls are optioning everything these days, you never know…)
