American Comics Update: The Bute Collection: It’s A Jungle Out There: Sheena #4 1948
*Miscellaneous 1940-1959: Sheena, Queen Of The Jungle starred in Jumbo Comics from its #1 issue in 1938, and spun off into her own title in 1942, thus becoming the first female comic character to star in her own title (just beating Wonder Woman). This was the time of jungle supremacy following the success of Tarzan, and Sheena was the first of a horde of Jungle Queens who were to follow. Jumbo was an anthology title which Sheena had to share, but here in her own series we have wall-to-wall Sheena in #4 with four long stories. A nice copy with little wear except for a tiny chip off top right corner. An unmarked cover, slightly miscut, but only slightly, tight firm staples, supple off-white pages. Flat with no creases and very insignificant signs of edge wear. Presents very well. From the Bute Collection.
