*DC: Another gem from the Midas Collection, with a striking Superman and the Red Cross cover by Jack Burnley. Dating from 1945, the lead story is one where Superman has to convince some buddies, who all serve in different branches of the armed services, that they all have an equally important job to do in the war effort. The second story is a Lois Lane short. In the third story, Clark and Lois visit a fortune teller, with amazing results. In the final story, Luthor enlists the aid of two aliens to conquer the world by using a ray on the earth people that makes them lazy (!). Stories by Don C Cameron, Whitney Ellsworth & Bill Finger. Art by Pete Riss. This is a nice copy with vivid primary colours on the cover, which is unmarked except for a small scuff mark by Superman’s elbow (see scan). The spine is solid and intact, but has some wear along its length, slightly breaking cover. Corners are mostly square. Staples are tight and firm. Pages are supple, white and very attractive. A very desirable copy.
