*DC: The Forever People, five empowered youths each of whom reflected a middle-aged to elderly man’s perception of a hippie ‘type’, were intended to be a younger, fresher face for Jack Kirby’s Fourth World saga, but their relative inexperience didn’t stop them from getting embroiled with the heavy hitters – as witnessed by the fact that their first issue saw the first ‘in person’ appearance of Darkseid, who previously had only appeared on-screen delivering orders to various underlings.
