American Update: Six of the Best! Deck the halls with boughs of Harley!
*DC: Doctor Harleen Quinzel, psychiatrist turned super-villain, captured the hearts and minds of a generation of readers since her debut in the Batman Animated TV series, and here we present six Harley landmarks! Batman Adventures #28 and Batman Adventures Annual #1 were the second and third sightings, respectively, of Harley Quinn in comic books, still retaining her appearance and persona from the animated series. Batman & Robin Adventures #8 from 1996 and Justice League Unlimited #41 from 2008 retained the Animated-style Harley; the former featured Poison Ivy and Harley using a brainwashed Boy Wonder as an accomplice in crime, while the latter had Harl and ‘Mr. J’ invading the Justice League satellite. By this point, of course, popular demand had required Harley to enter the DCU ‘proper’, and she gained her own title for the first time in 2000, followed by a team book with her gal-pals Ivy and Catwoman, Gotham City Sirens, in 2009; first issues of both these series are included in this selection. With Harley being the break-out star of the ‘Suicide Squad’ movie and headlining the ‘Birds of Prey’ flick, this selection of low-to-high grade early appearances looks pretty bargainaceous, so move fast before they’re gone!
