*Children’s Books: W E Johns, creator of Biggles, was a very prolific writer, responsible for over 150 books. Although two thirds of these were Biggles, there were a great many others, including war, adventure and science fiction. 11 of these were the adventures of Worrals, WAAF Flight Officer Joan ‘Worrals’ Worralson and her sidekick Betty ‘Frecks; Lovell; these were created at the request of the Air Ministry to inspire young women to join the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. Dust jacket illustrations on these by the famous and accomplished Reginald Heade. 2 handsome hardcover volumes this week from our distinguished Arch Collection of books and comics.
