#8 VG £45 By Roy Thomas and John Buscema. A classic black background backdrop cover with Namor and the Thing. The story includes a Golden Age flashback featuring Subby’s lost love Betty Dean, and her poignant re-appearance in the present. A reasonable copy with the black cover only disturbed by narrow colour-breaking reading creases along the spin e and a small spot of reds ink on Namor’s knee. Tight, firm staples and supple white to off-white pages.

By Bill Everett, Sub-Mariner’s creator, who wrote and drew this one great masterpiece before his death, which co-starred another pre-Marvel great he was associated with, Venus the Goddess of Love, whom he had portrayed in the now highly sought after Atlas horror issues of her own title. The joy of seeing them paired up in this Everett written and drawn story provides an apt legacy for this comic book great. A lovely glossy copy with good staples and near white pages; just minor edge and spine wear.
