(No, not that Executioner, though Stan & Jack clearly liked the name enough to recycle it shortly thereafter for the Asgardian assassin we all know and love.) This ‘Executioner’ was the dictator of the South American Republic of San Diablo, and while it may seem laughable to pit him against the Thunder God now, back then, in the wake of the Cuban missile crisis, it was very relevant. This is also the first appearance of Jane Foster, who’s held the title of Thor herself a couple of times!
