Books Update: Two Classic Crime/Horror Pulps
*Pulp Fiction: A huge part of the appeal of the Pulps is in their painted covers, and we feature two very distinctive examples this week in their UK versions. Black Mask is considered the greatest American hard-boiled detective magazine of all time and launched the careers of Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler. This issue features a notorious cover with a criminal injecting drugs into cigars. Mystery Stories was titled 15 Mystery Stories in its US original. Formerly Dime Mystery Magazine; only five issues published under this title. Horror/crime material. Superb painted horror cover by Norman Saunders.
