*Tarzan/E R Burroughs: Like all the categories in our ‘Characters’ section, Tarzan/ERB features both American and British versions. From the Bute Collection, we turn to America for the first John Carter of Mars comics ever published. In 1952/53, in their Four Color series, Dell produced three John Carter comics, telling the story written 40 years earlier by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The first two issues had line-drawn covers by Jesse Marsh, the interior artist; the third had a glorious painted cover. All available here as a complete set.
