*Marvel: The Silver Surfer’s solo series was marked with exquisite John Buscema artwork, generally acknowledged to be among the finest of his career, and scripts which could be charitably described as ‘a bit long-winded’. Most of the pontificating soliloquies, however, went out of the window in Surfer #14, in which the sky-rider of the spaceways faced off against the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man – and Spidey held his own for a surprisingly long while against the Power Cosmic in this cracking, fast-paced tale!
